UW-Green Bay Weidner Center announces 2012-13 Performing Arts Season

Classic Broadway shows, entertaining comedy and eclectic music and dance are among the highlights of the 2012-13 Performing Arts Season lineup at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.

The signature University of Wisconsin-Green Bay venue announced its new season May 22 during a special event for patrons and friends. Officials say the season announcement is an exciting milestone in the Weidner’s re-launch.

“This lineup represents the kind of quality and variety audiences have come to expect from a venue of this caliber, while also offering the accessible pricing we know is important,” said Weidner Center General Manager Kate Green. “With the help of our stakeholders and friends, we’ve developed a fantastic season that we are so excited to share.”

Lewis Black Coming to the Weidner Center Sunday, September 16, 2012

(Green Bay, WI) – The Weidner Center for the Performing Arts welcomes LEWIS BLACK to Green Bay on Sunday, September 16th at 8:00 p.m.

Prolific funny man, actor, author, and stand-up comedian/ranter LEWIS BLACK will be live on stage as part of his RUNNING ON EMPTY tour. Lewis’ live performances provide a cathartic release of anger and disillusionment for his audience. Lewis yells so they don’t have to. He is a passionate performer who is a more pissed-off optimist than mean-spirited curmudgeon. Lewis is the rare comic who can cause an audience to laugh themselves into incontinence while making compelling points about the absurdity of our world.

LEWIS BLACK came into national prominence in his appearances on THE DAILY SHOW in 1996. His appearances on THE DAILY SHOW led to four specials on Comedy Central. In 2001, he won the Best Male Stand-Up at the American Comedy Awards. He has also produced six comedy CD albums, including the 2007 Grammy-Award winning The Carnegie Hall Performance. LEWIS BLACK just won his second Grammy Award with his most recent CD “Stark Raving Black” for best comedy album.

LEWIS BLACK has also written two best-selling books, Nothing Sacred and Me of Little Faith. His book, I’m Dreaming of a Black Christmas was released in November 2010.
