Lily Tomlin Performance Canceled

FOR RELEASE
May 11, 2017

Regrettably the fall date for An Evening of Classic Lily Tomlin has been canceled. With the increased demand related to her successful Netflix series Grace and Frankie the 2017 fall date is no longer possible. The show was scheduled at the Weidner Center for October 7, 2017. Both sides worked in earnest to try and find a re-scheduled date, even waiting until the Packer schedule was announced to explore every possibility.  We understand from Lily’s management she’s disappointed this has not worked out, and of course we are as well. Current ticket holders will automatically be credited back to the original credit card of purchase. Purchases made by cash or check will be refunded via check by Ticket Star. Please contact Ticket Star or the Weidner Center with any questions.

Tim Hawkins Returns by Popular Demand on February 24

FOR RELEASE:
October 12, 2016

(De Pere, WI) – Since giving up his job as a grocery truck driver in 2002, Tim Hawkins has been establishing himself as one of the most in-demand comedians in the country. With over 300 million video views online and over 100 sold-out concerts every year, his Jackwagon Crew has grown into a revolution of multi-generational proportions.

Tim returns to the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 7:30pm with an all-new show. Tickets are available Friday, October 14 at 12pm at highgearpromotions.com, 800.895.0071, and through all Ticket Star locations.

Tim’s gut-busting comedy show entertains the entire family while doubling down on the funny, a daunting task in an age where the obscene has become routine. His act is 1 part gifted + 2 parts twisted – the only certainty being his on-the-nose observations that expose the ridiculousness of daily life while marveling in its hilarity. The perils of marriage, homeschooling, and growing up in the Midwest may not exemplify the rock star life, but they make for really good punchlines.

And while his stand-up is riotous, fans are often more amazed at his singing voice and guitar chops. Tim’s hilarious music videos have brought him viral YouTube fame with fan favorites including The Chick-fil-A Song, Yoga Pants, Cletus Take The Reel, and The Government Can. Above all, Tim reminds us that for life’s many trials, laughter is our best medicine – especially when the Prozac runs out. Bring the whole family out and join Tim this winter as he makes his highly anticipated return to Weidner Center on February 24th.

For Immediate Release
FEBRUARY 19, 2016

(Green Bay, WI) –The Weidner Center for the Performing Arts in partnership with the ARTgarage is proud to announce that the winner of the ONCE Singer/Songwriter contest is Lane Lee with the submission of his original song Runaway Train.

Lane Lee is from the small town of Suring, Wisconsin. He has a life-long passion for music and enjoys creating his own works. His mother is a music teacher, sparking his interest in music at a very young age. He continued to dig deeper into music and eventually decided to go to college for music education. Lane is currently completing his degree at UW- Green Bay by student teaching.

Local singer/songwriters were encouraged to submit one original song to participate in this contest. The submissions were judged by a panel of local music experts. The winning entrant receives complimentary tickets to see the musical ONCE on February 25 at the Weidner Center, participation at the showcase with the ARTgarage, and an opportunity to record their song at Rock Garden Studio.

A select group of artists will perform on February 20 from 4 – 9pm at the ARTgarage in the Singer/Songwriter Showcase. The show will be open to the public, with incentive to participate in other activities at the ARTgarage.

ONCE, winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards® including Best Musical and winner of the 2013 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Theater Album, is the celebrated new musical based on the Academy Award-winning film. It tells the story of an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant drawn together by their shared love of music.  Over the course of one fateful week, their unexpected friendship and collaboration evolves into a powerful but complicated romance, heightened by the raw emotion of the songs they create together.  Brought to the stage by an award-winning team of visionary artists and featuring an ensemble cast of gifted actor/musicians, ONCE is a musical celebration of life and love: thrilling in its originality, daring in its honesty… and unforgettable in every way.

The ARTgarage is located in The Cannery on Olde Main, a 100-year-old former cannery factory with Cream City brick walls, high wooden ceilings, a cracked and stained cement floor… the perfect setting for this exciting arts venue. Studio A, formerly the cannery’s loading dock, contains the Front Gallery, side galleries, artist studios and gift shop.  Studio B is a multipurpose space which is home to classes, workshops, performances, meetings and special events. (Green Bay, WI) – Tickets are now on sale for VOCALOSTY – THE ACA PERFECT CONCERT EXPERIENCE playing at The Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on January 22, 2016 at 7:30pm. The 12 powerhouse vocalists that comprise the new all-star a cappella group are Matthew Bryan Feld, James C. Jones, Hannah Juliano, Kelli Koloszar, Cheeyang Ng, Gerianne Pérez, Nattalyee Randall, Tracy L.J. Robertson, Chesney Snow, Bryant Vance, Nicole Weiss and Amy Whitcomb.

VOCALOSITY is the all-new live concert event from the creative mind of artistic producer Deke Sharon (Pitch Perfect, The Sing-Off) that takes a cappella to a whole new level! This fast-paced production features an all-star ensemble of diverse young vocalists singing some of today’s chart-topping hits in brand-new arrangements that set a new standard for 12-part harmony.

No genre of music is off limits in the world of a cappella and VOCALOSITY covers them all – from tenth century Gregorian chant and classical choral to barber shop quartet and bouncing doo-wop all the way to an exploration of the current sound of a cappella with music from The Beatles, Bruno Mars and more. Combine that with direction and choreography from Sean Curran (Stomp original cast member) and you have an exhilarating evening of song unlike anything ever seen or heard, live on stage.

“Over the past few years, a cappella has grown from what was once considered a stuffy Ivy League activity to a pop culture phenomenon beloved by people of all ages,” says Deke Sharon, who serves as artistic director, music director and co-creator of the production. “VOCALOSITY is my dream team, an all-star ensemble of diverse young singers each with a unique style and personality. Most vocal groups aspire to create one sound and style, homogenizing the character of their singers, but this group is the exact opposite, weaving a variety of tapestries from different combinations of voices and characters.”

Hailed as “the father of contemporary a cappella” by Entertainment Weekly, Sharon has served as on-site music director and vocal producer for the smash hit films Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 as well as vocal producer of NBC’s The Sing-Off.

Tickets may be purchased online at WeidnerCenter.com, by phone at 800-895-0071, or in person at Ticket Star locations. To learn more about VOCALOSITY, please visit http://vocalosityontour.com/.
