This year we are offering an optional full day of activities for your students in partnership with National Railroad Museum. Students will attend the performance at the Weidner Center and visit the National Railroad Museum to tour train cars, interact with learning exhibits, and engage in discussions related to each show.
For only $10 per student, you will receive admission to the performance and the National Railroad Museum. Reservations are on a first-come, first served basis. Space is limited. Scholarships are not available for the National Railroad Museum experience as the program is already discounted.
THE NATIONAL RAILROAD MUSEUM PROGRAM is offered with the following performances:
Freedom Riders – Tuesday, February 6, 2018
The U.S. Civil Rights Movement finds its roots in the labor struggles of the Pullman sleeping car porters; even the actions of Rosa Parks are tied to the railroads. Explore these interesting connections using railroad stories and train cars in the Museum’s collection.
My Heart in a Suitcase – Thursday, April 26, 2018
U.S. railroads played a significant role in World War II. Through the Museum’s collection we will illustrate the human and technological impact of this global conflict. Additionally, the group will explore the very moving story behind the Wisconsin 40&8 boxcar from the French Merci Train.
